RPTS 321 is a mandatory class for student looking to pursue a Professional Event Management Certificate. In the class, students were given the option of coordinating one of the two assigned events: RPTS Banquet and Kite Fest. I chose Kite Fest and was placed into Group 3: Eventscape and Volunteer Coordination. The purpose of this event was to give back to the community through a safe and family-friendly event through kite flying and other activities.

Being the group leader for the eventscape and volunteer coordination group, I was the point of contact for the co-chairs as well as the volunteers. I ensured my group was on time for all our deadlines and remained in budget for decor. I designed a volunteer flyer that was set around campus to various departments as well as posted on social media platforms. In addition, my group and I created a volunteer packet that was distributed to volunteers via email, held a volunteer orientation, as well as conducted a post event assessment on their volunteer experience. Through this event, I learned how to work with different personalities and leadership styles, as well as how to adapt to last minute changes of an event. Although there were many disagreements, ultimately many diverse people and personalities came together to produce a successful event for the Bryan College Station community, which was the main goal all along.
